Nancy Hynes
Nancy Hynes received her PhD from the University of Pittsburgh then moved to Europe for postdoctoral positions at the Max Planck in Berlin and the Swiss Cancer Institute in Lausanne. She is currently a member of the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research in Basel, Switzerland and a Professor at the University of Basel. Her laboratory studies the mechanisms that contribute to breast cancer development and to metastatic spread. Important contributions were the discovery of ERBB2 amplification in breast tumors and unraveling this receptor’s role in ErbB family signaling.
